The Dirty Martinis understand your wedding or civil partnership is one of the most memorable events of your life and it should be celebrated in style!
Many couples can spend up to 12 months planning the big day, so we thought we’d help out a little when it comes to hiring the band.
Playing across Fife, Edinburgh, St.Andrews and Perth and hundreds of venues over the past five years, we are asked these common questions.
Live bands for weddings are an essential part of the celebrations and add a fantastic focal point to any party; however, not everyone has experience with how to book a band and the things to look out for and check. So, we thought we’d provide a basic set of questions to ask before booking a wedding band.
1. How many weddings have you previously performed at?
The Dirty Martinis have been in operation since 2013 and played countless weddings and parties/events all across Scotland. During the summer months, we are often playing weddings every week.
2. Can we see some references from previous wedding customers?
Of course! We have over 150 YouTube testimonials also our Facebook page contains over 100 five star reviews and post feedback from previous clients.
3. Can we choose the songs from your setlist to play?
This can be difficult for us to arrange during busy periods, we often add new songs and tailor our set for all age groups to keep your dance floor jumping.
4. Do I need to hire any equipment?
Not a thing! The Dirty Martinis come fully equipped with professional sound and lighting equipment to create a great party and full dance floor.
5. What happens when you aren’t playing?
Once set up we play music to keep the party going until we are ready to perform. During buffet break we keep the party going with our party playlist.
6. How long will you play?
We tend to play live for around 3 ½ hours, which is the standard and supply you with a running order of playing times, which can be adjusted, to suit.
7. Can my friend/family member sing a song with the band?
Of course, The Dirty Martinis are more than happy to accommodate this request. We only require some notice and if we don’t play the song already we can arrange a backing track.
8. Do you have a contract?
Great question! A contract will give you peace of mind and reassure you that you have the band secured for the day. Once your date is confirmed we issue a contract via email and ask this is signed and sent back to the band.
9. What happens if someone is ill on the day?
Musicians are only human too and it could easily be the case that one of them falls ill and can’t make the wedding. We have several musicians who can cover at short notice.
10. How much do you cost to hire?
The Dirty Martinis provide quotes based on location, like travel time to and from venues does matter. Remember you are booking the band for their time and this can often be up to 8-9 hrs time from home. Our fee is standard for a great wedding/events band consisting of 5 members; you can get cheaper but remember you get what you pay for.
Booking the band direct can save you hundreds in agency commission fees.
Hopefully, these questions and gaining the answers will help you pick the perfect band for your wedding or civil partnership celebrations.
